Martha "Marti" Louisa Baden

October 11, 1927 – January 4, 2023

Marti was born to Gustav and Frieda Froese in Walla Walla, Washington. She was the youngest and only daughter with seven brothers. During early childhood, Marti accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and continued, until her passing, an unwavering faith in God.

At a young age, she developed a love for playing the piano and violin. She played and enjoyed both into her eighties. Marti graduated from Walla Walla high school and moved to Spokane at 17 where she worked for the government distributing ration cards during World War II.

Marti met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Baden at a Bible conference. After a short courtship, they were married on January 5, 1946 and had four children. Marti was a devoted wife, steadfast mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She exemplified kindness, faithfulness, compassion and a history of devoted prayer continually giving all praise and thanks to her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. Bob worked at Deaconess Hospital and before his retiring, Marti was honored for over 20,000 hours of volunteer work with the Deaconess Auxiliary.

Bob and Marti opened their home to anyone and everyone every day of the week. She loved to cook and prepared a full roast beef dinner every Sunday for college students that traveled in for worship from the University of Idaho, WSU, and Whitworth. She prepared a delicious meal and added her special touch of elegance. Hospitality, good food and a listening ear were Marti’s specialty. Whether you knew her for decades or just met her, she treated you like her closest friend. Marti was always ready with quick humor and enjoyed a great deal of teasing yet ready with a clever retort. After Bob’s passing in 1995, Marti continued to open her home preparing meals for many.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren celebrated her 95th birthday with her in October. Vivacious and social, she lived independently until the Lord took her home. She is survived by three children, Nancy Mittelstadt (Bill), Don Baden (Janet), Janice Beigh (Ron) and David who went to be with the Lord in 1967. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Bob Mittelstadt (Rebecca), Scott Mittelstadt (deceased), Amy McCavour (Harold), Natalie Adkins (Nathan), Drew Baden (Elaine), Reece Beigh (Marty) and Pierce Beigh. Eleven great grand children, (one deceased).

Marti passed peacefully at home surrounded by her children and loving family. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Truth Publishers, Pacific Garden Mission and Jews for Jesus.
