Nelson, Lydia M. (Age 92) Lydia passed away peacefully on May 16, 2011. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on March 16, 1919. There she met the love of her life, Charles Nelson, where he was stationed during WWII. She came to the U.S. aboard an Army Transport ship in October, 1944 to marry Chuck. They were married Apr. 2, 1945. Chuck preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1988. They are now together again. Lydia is survived by her 3 daughters, Sandy (Andy) Fichter, Switzerland, Nancy Emtman, Spokane, and Karen (Mike) Coburn, Nine Mile Falls, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Lydia was a homemaker first. She made the best Spanish Rice. She also worked for The Crescent Dept. Store and The Expo Souvenir Shop at The Crescent during Expo ’74.
She will be missed by all. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, 12:00 Noon, at the Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA.
