(Age 83)
Lorraine may not have cast a big shadow in the world, but for those family members and friends who received the light from her sparkling blue eyes and ready smile, she was a tremendous gift from God. She was born to Laura and Porter Bakken in a small town in North Dakota; and grew up as their only child. During her school years, the family lived in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Soon after WWII ended, her family settled in Spokane, WA. Lorraine continued to live in the Spokane area most of her life with husband of 64 years, Larry Sheets, and where she was close to her family. Lorraine is survived by her husband and their four children: Terry (Donna) Sheets, Brenda (Denny) Lippert, Michael (Lynda) Sheets, Loretta (Curt) Johnson; six grandchildren: Kia (Mark) Simpson, Mastery Sheets, Aaron (Kareth) Lippert, Micah Sheets, Mercia Sheets, Mariel Sheets; four great-grandchildren: Alexander Lippert, Kailah and Kameron Simpson, Jordan Sheets; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends around the U.S. Special thanks to the staff of Beacon House A.F.H. for the care she received at the end of her long battle with dementia.
A service to celebrate Lorraine’s life and faith in Christ, will be held on January 30, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., Trinity Baptist Church, 6528 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA.
