Born September 22, 1950. Kim passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spokane on August 2, 2010. At his request, there will be no formal service. His ashes will be distributed among family and spread along with those of his beloved and recently deceased dog, Looey, at Marshall Lake, MT, Spokane and a few of his other favorite places. A lifelong true native son of Spokane and Army Veteran, Kim was perhaps most remembered for his journeymanship in Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #44. A respected and exacting welder/craftsman, he was the steward on most union jobs throughout his extensive 30 year career. He worked on the Potlatch Paper refit in Lewiston, ID and on many projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. An armchair traveler at heart, Kim rarely ventured outside his place of origin. True to his Assiniboine nature, in his younger days he was an avid hunter, ace fly fisher and amazing naturist. He respected the ways of Mother Earth and Grandfather, loved all birds and knew much about the history of Spokane. He was intelligent in an unearthly way and those who met him never forgot him. He was, by his nature, a loner and spent much of his time reading or watching the news to keep current, or would tend his birds and garden. He was an avid Seahawks fan and had anticipated the upcoming season. Kim also was “the best wrench” some of us had ever known. He was proud of his cars through the years – the most famous being his 1969 El Camino he had converted to a high ride 4x4, the Corvette a close second, the Hemi he rebuilt in his home garage, Old Red Truck, the new F150 and numerous other vehicles he restored, reconditioned or just tinkered on. The last years of his life were spent in poor health, but Kim almost never complained and always had a concern for others with a humble, quiet approach to life. He had been divorced for many years and had no children. He is survived by his sisters, Kristi Hamilton of Alaska, Cheryl Davies and Sandra Britton of Arizona; nephews, Kelly Hamilton, Jon Hamilton of Spokane; and numerous other relatives. Family and friends wishing to donate may do so to the Spokane Humane Society. Punamiya. Rest well and in peace, my brother.
