He was born on September 17, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manatoba Canada but resided in Hannah, ND. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1956 with a B.A. degree in Education then received his M.A. degree in education from Oregon State College in 1958. Don was a High School Instructor at Bremerton School District in 1956-57, then Graduate Assistant/Instructor for Oregon State University in 1957-58, Instructor/Counselor for Spokane School District 1958-72, and Instructor in graduate Counselor Education program summers 1970-72, Adjunct Professor for Gonzaga 1966-86, Instructor and Human Services Department Chairman for Spokane Falls community college 1972-88.
In 1959 he married Shirly Joan (Burns) Graham who had three children at the time and the couple had one child together. He enjoyed reading, camping, boating in Alaska, fishing and woodworking. His family and friends will always remember him as a patient, caring and adventurous person.
He is survived by Son Scott Ellis, Daughter in-law Kimberly Ellis, step children Terry Graham, Judy Hopkins, Debbie Byrne and numerous nieces/nephews/grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Shirly Joan Ellis.
A Celebration of Life will be held for him in a private function.
