Beverly Harthill was born April 26, 1933 in Rosalia, WA. She was third of four daughters born to Alma & Lila Fuhriman. Upon graduation from school she moved to Richland, WA and married Robert Houbrick on December 15, 1956. They had four children in four years. Shortly after they moved to Pennsylvania and ultimately divorced.
During her time in Pennsylvania, Beverly met Charley Carr, a single father with three little children. They married on October 9, 1965, forming a “Brady bunch” type family, with seven children all under the age of eight. Unfortunately fourteen months later Charley passed away from lung cancer. The following year, Beverly moved with all seven children to Spokane to be closer to her family.
Bev purchased a house in Spokane featuring five childhood bedrooms. She worked a variety of jobs including cleaning houses, ironing clothes, working at a book bindery, but her primary work included being a nurse’s aide at Deaconess Hospital. She was very active at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. She took the children to church each week. Her Church activities included serving as Deacon, Wedding Hostess, and church contact for communion servers. She was heavily involved in school PTA meetings, Christian Women’s club, Twin club, and the local play Ham on Regal.
On August 10, 1996 she married William “Bill” Harthill her high school sweetheart. They reconnected after many years apart. All of their children are so thankful their parents found such happiness in their sunset years. It was difficult not to smile when you saw them together.
Beverly is survived by her husband William “Bill” Harthill and daughter Cheryl (Rod) Mittmann, son Jacob Houbrick, Step-daughters Bonnie (Tim) Nelson, Elizabeth (Don) Krenowicz, Kriste (Dan) England, Karin Purcell, numerous grandchildren, and sister Rita Loncon. Bev’s sons Matthew and Michael Houbrick, step-son Charles Carr, her parents and two sisters all have passed to their reward.
