Arleen Jane Rosen was born September 29, 1939 in Detroit Michigan at 7# 2oz. Arleen was the beloved daughter of now deceased Marvin D. Snider & Sophia V. Roman Snider. She was the eldest of 2 daughters. She graduated in 1956 from Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan. She married Robert (Bob) Richardson (deceased) and they had two children. Danita (Deedee) Allison (Norm Bonnet) was born in Savannah, Georgia. Jeffery (Jeff) Richardson (Steve Conway) was born in Evreux, France. Arleen and Bob divorced and she married Donald D Rainville (deceased) in Columbus, Ohio. Arleen and Donald moved back to Spokane, WA where Don’s family was from. They got some property with Don’s parents in Tumtum, WA where they started off in a tiny trailer. Don started building a house for them and Arleen had quit her job at the insurance company to have her third child, Donne’l (Mark Beat), who was born in Spokane. She soon after had 2 more children, Christopher (Chris) Rainville (Tammy Rainville) and David Rainville (deceased) who were both born in Spokane. She spent many years raising children, tending garden, and freezing and canning the produce her garden produced. She raised an assortment of animals, including chickens, geese, pigs, cows, and turkeys. All of these to provide food for the family and the community for the year. She volunteered weekly at the Senior citizen’s luncheon by making meals, delivering and cleaning. She even involved us children in helping. When all of the kids were in school, she volunteered as a bus monitor for the Deer Park to Tumtum route, and at the Deer Park Elementary grade school and library. She was also a volunteer for the Tumtum Food Bank, and assisted Don in picking up food subsidies from Colville and delivering them to 5 other food banks between Colville and Tumtum. She was a member of the VFW Post 6600 and a member of the Tumtum ceramics. She had worked at Sunset Bay as a cook, bartender, and picked up supplies in Spokane. Arleen went to work for Geiger Airfield as a grounds keeper. Don and Arleen divorced in 1992. She soon retired from the State as the grounds keeper and was living in Airway Heights. She was a life member of the Northside Eagles and volunteered at the rest stops delivering coffee to travelers. She was a contributor to Northport/Onion School District, St. Jude’s, HSUS and the Indian nation of Montana. She soon met Kenneth Rosen and they married bringing together 9 more children, Kathy (Bob) Gessner, Keith Rosen, Kent (Lynnette) Rosen, Dana Cox (deceased), Darla Charlton (deceased), Lynn (Larry) Tolva, Kendra (Pat) McHale, Karmen (Shawn) Greene & Kevin Rosen. She had 31 grandchildren between all the kids and 24 great grand children. They lived outside of Colville for 13 years. Arleen was a strong lady. She was complicated and stubborn. She taught all of us kids to be the people we all are today. She struggled a short time with Small Cell lung cancer - but gave it a good run. She had told a couple of her daughters, “Sorry for being such a pain” but she was no pain because we loved her. Her daughter Deedee was blessed to have her stay with them for 3 weeks while going through treatment. And while chemotherapy and radiation were still going on, daughters Karmen, Lynn and Kendra, got Ken and Arleen moved back to Airway Heights so they could be closer to Arleen’s appointments and have Ken back with her. They were able to have about a month or so together before her passing. She will be remembered for her caring heart, how she would give the shirt off her back to even a stranger, and for her warm smile. Sadly to say before this was published her husband, Ken Rosen, passed away from a broken heart. He loved her so much, and now he is with her dancing in the clouds. Any memorial contributions, please donate to Hospice of Spokane, SpokAnimal, or Northport/Onion School District in Stevens County.
