Sharon Mary Rennaker

Sharon Mary Carrico Rennaker was born May 25, 1934 in Port Angeles WA to Violet Lillian “Anne” Boyd Carrico and Ellis William Carrico. She attended first grade in Port Angeles and then boarding school in Seattle WA and Wallace ID before moving to Yakima WA. After many years of living in foster homes and boarding schools, she finally found “home” with Leo and Veronica Rooney of Wapato, WA where she lived for the next 6 years.

While living with the Rooney family, Sharon attended St Joseph’s Academy in Yakima, graduating in 1953. She then attended Yakima Business College prior to taking a position in Richland WA with the Atomic Energy Commission. It was while working for the AEC that Sharon met Doris Jean Rennaker, who soon introduced her brother Alan to Sharon. Alan and Sharon were married in 1955 in Yakima.

Sharon has been a Spokane Valley resident since 1965 and became a long-time member of St Mary’s Catholic Church. She worked in food service for 22 years with the Central Valley School District, retiring in 2000. Her hobbies included collecting flowers, plants, fabrics and rocks, deep-sea fishing, watching wildlife, hunting and camping. She loved her weekly coffee meetings with her girlfriends. She prepared to be a quilter for many years, amassing an impressive collection of quilting fabric - some of which were even used to make quilts.

Sharon is survived by her children Terry Rennaker, Mike Rennaker, Randy Rennaker, Jeff (“MJ”) Rennaker, Karen Rennaker, Pat Rennaker (Charlene), and Ronna Rennaker; grandchildren Ty (Paige) Rennaker, Alan (Ritchie Stacy) Kszywanos, Jaime Rennaker, Andrew Rennaker, Jacob (Anna) Rennaker, Aaron (Carissa) Rennaker, Bethany Rennaker and Jessica (Ryan) Robinson, sister-in-law Doris Jean Stacy; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alan, sister Charlotte Carrico and brother Stephen Morse.

A viewing will be held Saturday February 18 at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am- both at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S Adams Road, Spokane Valley, WA 99216.
