Michael Dean Shea passed away on October 12, 2022, at the age of 73 after a valiant fight with colon cancer. He was in the 25th infantry division in the US Army and fought on the lines in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. He was born on October 7, 1949, in Cloquet, Minnesota to Maurice Shea and Lempi Tammi Shea. He attended St Patrick’s school and graduated from John Rogers. He worked at Perfection Tire, and joined and worked for the Spokane Carpenters Union as a building carpenter. He married Jenny Kellogg in 1981 and moved to a 40-acre ranch in Newport, WA, living there for 40 years near Diamond Lake, where he built his two homes. He also worked for Building Trades Training and Habitat for Humanity of Spokane. With his brother Dennis Shea, they owned a Pitco Hardwoods store in North Spokane for many years. Michael was a fine woodworker, designing and building many homes and furniture for clients, family and friends. Besides woodworking, he loved vacationing in Oregon, collecting treasures from the beaches, antiquing, collecting military patches and metals, being an avid reader, and planting flowers that filled his house decks every summer.
He is survived by his brothers, Dennis and Vicki Shea, Coupeville, WA, Gary and Debbie Shea, Spokane, WA; sister Mary and Robert Bravenec, Benton City, WA; daughter Leeann and Scott Anderson, Spokane WA; son Dino Mosby, Pasco, WA; niece Corinna and Mike Rozelle, Elk, WA; 6 grandchildren Jessica Mosby; Shane, Austin, Mikaela, Bryce and Brayden Anderson. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins; his former wife Jenny, who cared for him during his illness and was the Love of his Life, and his two best friends Jim Lloyd and Tom Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Renee Parker, and his beloved Australian Shepherd Déjà Vu…
Service will be held on November 17 at 11:15 am sharp at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA. Open to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
