Laura was born on April 19, 1932 in Deer Park, Washington to parents Uel and Alfield Hand. Her older sister Clara chose her name to be Laura Belle. Laura graduated from Deer Park High School in 1949 as the senior class vice-president. She has kept in touch with her best friend Minnie Westby ever since.
Beginning in the early 1960’s Laura worked at J.C. Penny in downtown Spokane, eventually attaining the position of credit manager.
Laura married Duane Pangborn in March of 1968 and began her career as a homemaker.
Laura will always be remembered by her friends and family as a loving, caring person, a devoted mother and a woman of faith. She was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane. She loved nature and all creatures that inhabited the world with her, especially dogs.
Laura is survived by her children; Craig (Joan) Clouse, Stanley (Patty) Clouse, Brian (Krista) Clouse, and Linda (Wayne) Skiles. She had numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Uel and Alfield Hand, her husband Duane Pangborn, sisters Elva Thomas and Clara Fitzgerald, and brothers Horace Hand and George Hand.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 am on January 17, 2024 at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99205, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Laura’s life.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Riverview Retirement Community and Horizon Hospice for all the loving care they provided to our mom in the last weeks of her life.
