It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen G. Carter, 80, on Friday November 19, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Harvey W. and Trudy A. Harala on April 13, 1941 in Spokane, Washington.
Karen graduated from North Central High School in 1959, where she was active in Glee Club and musical theater. Upon graduation and completing partial nurses training, she married Brian R. Quanbeck with whom she had 3 daughters. As a Navy wife, Karen was able to make the home a beautiful sanctuary with her unique decorating ability, no matter where home may have been.
She was a gracious, goofy and stubborn lady who dearly loved her children. We will miss her hugs, witty sense of humor, and exceptionally strong Christian faith. She was a caring and compassionate soul which was evident in the countless charitable donations she gave throughout her years.
Karen and Brian later divorced and she married Robert O. Carter in December 1987. He remained the love of her life until his passing in 2018.
Karen is survived by three daughters: Kimberlee (Jody), Kristine and Kelly, along with grandchildren: Dallis, Tanner, Ryan, Dustin (Rachel), Zanna, Cayden, Taylor and three great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Retta, Wayne, Julie, Jim and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service is scheduled on Friday, Dec. 3. 2021 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA at Noon with burial following at 2:00 pm, at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
