Elizabeth “Betty” Barnes (age 89) passed away June 8, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA. She was born July 16, 1924 in Wallace, ID and graduated from West Valley High School in 1942. Betty is remembered as a generous person. She committed much of her life to teaching and encouraging young people. She spent many years as a Camp Director with Campfire Girls. Having earned degrees from State College of Washington (WSU), Eastern Washington State College (EWU), and Whitworth College, Betty taught courses in English and History at the Community Colleges of Spokane. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing. A Memorial Service to celebrate Betty’s life will be Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd.
