Bonnie Engel

1943 – 2015

Bonnie Engel passed away September 24, 2015. She was born May 3, 1943 to Lewis & Harriet Larson in Spokane, WA. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1961 and Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1964. Bonnie then graduated from Gonzaga University with a BSN degree in 1980. She was employed by two hospitals in the Seattle area. She worked 20 years at Valley Hospital & Medical Center and was eventually the Director of Maternal Child Health. She was instrumental in creating the “Hugs to Health Program”.

Bonnie enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and golfing. She was an avid Zags fan.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Edward, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 12, 2014. She is also survived by a son, Thomas Engel of Spokane Valley, WA; a daughter, Susan Engel of Puyallup, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Garry Smith of Otis Orchards, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 South Pines Road.
