Peter Sands

SPARTA- Peter Sands died on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, NJ after a long illness. He was 50 years old. Peter was born in Hackensack, NJ to Peter and Joanne Sands and resided in South Hackensack. He currently resided for the past 18 years in Sparta. He was employed as a chemical engineer with BASF of Peekskill, NY for the past few months. He formerly worked for 17 years at Novartis Corporation. Peter was extremely proud of his two children; Peter who recently graduated from Penn State University and Christina a licensed NJ cosmetologist. He loved watching his son play sports, assisted as his son’s baseball coach, and enjoyed tinkering with his family’s cars. He is predeceased by his father; Peter Sands in 1995.

Surviving him is his wife of 25 years; Dorothy Sands (Kriete) a son; Peter John Sands and Daughter; Christina Elizabeth Sands, both at home. Sister; Cathy Maher (Stephen) of Powhatan, Va., his mother; Joanne Sands of Sparta, his nephews; Christopher, and Kevin Maher and niece; Loren Maher. Family and friends are invited Friday 4-8pm to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church, Sparta, followed by a private cremation.
