Lisa S. Lockett (Mogensen), 51, passed away on March 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and best friend after a long journey with breast cancer. Lisa began her life’s adventure at the start of the Christmas Eve blizzard in 1966. She grew up in Kearny and honored her Scottish ancestry by doing Highland dancing. She graduated from Kearny High School in 1984 where she met her best friend and soul mate Tracy Lockett. Their love and friendship would take them on a 35-year journey of togetherness and marriage. Her love of art, music, and nature were infused in two of her greatest accomplishments, her beautiful daughters Kelly and Erin.
She had a long history of volunteering and supporting others by doing elder outreach, Survivors’ Day, and being a patient advocate for breast cancer survivors and a strong positive presence for online cancer support groups.
Her love of life and wild sense of humor were reflected in her many interests. Reading, game shows, trivia, dark comedies, bizarre medical mysteries and true crime (especially serial killers!). Unknown to many, she was a proficient Master Lego builder! She enjoyed cruises, dinners with friends and family, the slots at the casinos, karaoke, and dog meet-ups with her Cairn and Scottish terrier friends.
Lisa worked for Verizon Wireless in Butler, NJ as a Customer Service Rep for the past 10 years.
Besides the love of her life and husband Tracy, daughters Kelly and Erin Lockett and beloved dogs Molly and Pippin, Lisa leaves behind to treasure her memory; her mother and Dad, Susan and Red Gordon of Sparta, sister, Kris M. Mogensen of Framingham, Massachusetts, and brother, Justin Gordon. She was predeceased by her father William J. Mogensen.
Family and friends can gather together to share memories and say their goodbye on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1 to 5 at the Goble Funeral Home on 22 Main St. Sparta NJ. Cremation is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa’s memory to Metavivor: The Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness, Research, and Support Organization.
