Elmer Anthony Miller Jr. (Tony) passed away on December 15th 2016 in Nashville TN at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 5, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to Elmer and Helen (Hillen) Miller. The family lived in Forrest Hills, NY but also later resided at Lake Mohawk, NJ. He was predeceased recently by his wife Olive Carol Miller. He has three children, Ellen Soehngen (Wayne) of Ashland VA, Victoria Jenkins (Charles) of Pipersville PA, and Christopher Miller (Andrea) of Whites Creek, TN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephen and Kristijan Soehngen, Eric Jenkins and Devin and Ethan Miller.
Elmer joined the National Guard and served for 8 years with the 42nd division of New York. He graduated with an AB in Business, Finance and Statistics from Columbia College in 1951 and attended New York Graduate School of Business. He started actuarial work with New York Life but then pursued the investments field with Manhattan Life Insurance, Mutual Life of New York, Massachusetts Life and then executive positions in many firms including Mony, Eaton and Howard and the Donner Corporation. His career started in New York City but later also included Boston and Philadelphia areas. He handled some of the Roosevelt family money and he even knew Donald Trump in his work!
Prior to Nashville, Elmer lived in Belvidere, NJ. He has also resided in Old Bridge, NJ, Sparta, NJ, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Elmer loved watching old movies and his beloved ducks, both wooden and wild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 11am-1pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will follow at Goble Funeral Home at 1pm Tuesday. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
