Born in Clinton, NJ, Doris was raised as a foster child and later adopted by Herman and Dorothy Kimble of West Milford, NJ. Doris was a 1954 graduate of Butler High School in Butler, NJ. She worked as a switchboard operator for New Jersey Bell Telephone in Butler, NJ, and Riverdale, NJ, and later as a switchboard receptionist for Anchor Bank in Wayne, NJ. She married Richard W. Boyer in 1956 and they lived in West Milford, NJ, until they retired to Harrisonburg, Va., in 1999. Doris was the organist at the Echo Lake Baptist Church in West Milford for many years, and later she and Richard attended and sang in the choir at Ringwood (NJ) Baptist Church. In Virginia, Doris and Richard were members of Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton and the Shenandoah Valley Choral Society. Doris enjoyed singing, playing the piano, baking, embroidery, crafts, jigsaw puzzles, and travel, and she was an avid lover of cats. In 2018, Doris moved back to New Jersey, first to West Milford and then to Sparta. Doris is survived by her son Mark Boyer of Ogdensburg, NJ, her son Douglas and his wife, Mary, of Durham, NC, three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jeremy, and Nathaniel; a sister, Darleen, of Mt. Upton, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her parents, Herman and Dorothy Kimble, her sister Jeanette Manning, and her brother, Robert (Bud) Kimble.
