Barbara “Bobbie” Massardo, 99, of Branchville, NJ passed away on April 13, 2018 at Bentley Assisted Living. Bobbie was born in Union City, NJ and lived in Weehawken and West Milford for many years before moving to Ogdensburg in 1960 where she lived until 2014. Bobbie worked many years as a receptionist for Dr. Ali Jahromi in Sparta, NJ, as a secretary at Culligan Water in Sparta and as a secretary at the Hamburg Elementary School. During WWll Bobbie worked as a civilian employee for the United States Army as a truck driver. After the war she worked as a civilian secretary for the United States Navy. She is predeceased by her daughter Luise Earlin, her beloved husband Peter S. Massardo, Sr., sister Mary Massardo and brother Frank Presentation. Bobbie is survived by her two devoted sons, Peter Massardo, Jr. and his wife Judy, and Stephen Massardo and his wife Terri, and by her son-in-law, Bruce Earlin. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeffrey Earlin, Daniel Massardo, Andre Massardo and Elena Pankraz and great grandchildren: Adrianna Massardo, Giovanni Massardo, Miles Massardo and Amelia Pankraz. She is also survived by her beloved niece and nephews, Mary Henry, Michael Massardo and Skip Presentation and their loving families, and by numerous cousins and dear friends.
Bobbie was a great lover of opera and had a prodigious memory for the plots and performers of countless operas. Her favorites were those of Puccini and Verdi and she would listen to La Boheme and others for hours on end. There were few questions about opera that she could not answer.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 2-4pmat the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A Celebration of her life will follow at 4pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: New Sussex Symphony Legacy Fund, PO Box 859, Newton, NJ 07860. A private interment will be held at a later date.
