Sophia was born May 8, 2013. Sophia felt like sunshine. With a sparkle in her eye, a song in her head, and a funny joke to keep everyone around her laughing, she truly shone with the joy of the Lord. Sophia had the warmest, most beautiful smile, and crown of thick, curly hair... and you could find her in high-top sneakers and blue jeans more often than dresses and hairbows.
Strong and athletic, Sophia loved playing soccer and basketball and could run with a swiftness that helped her win every game of tag on the playground. She loved dancing, crafting, baking, and going on adventures. Sophia’s infectious humor and boundless energy were a bright light in the lives of everyone she touched.
Her passion for sports and music was matched only by her deep love for her family and friends, who she cherished beyond measure. Above all, Sophia knew that Jesus was her Savior. This knowledge and profound faith not only provided her with strength and resilience, but it also taught us the true meaning of hope and love. She faced her illness with a bravery that left an indelible mark on everyone.
If we’ve ever been sure of anything, it is this: Sophia was sent here to this Earth to change people. To open people’s hearts to the endless possibilities found in Jesus. For someone who was only here on earth for eleven years, the number of lives that she has touched is incredible.
Sophia, we will grieve you longer than we knew you. We know that you are God’s special miracle, and we are so grateful that He shared you with us. We just wish it would have been longer. We’ll continue your mission here, and we’ll miss you achingly until we run into your arms again one sweet day.
