Chris was born January 8, 1972 in Lumberton, NC, son of Sankey C. Fields and the late Nola Miller Fields. He had been the Fire Chief, at Station 18, Sunset Harbor / Zion Hill Fire Department. He and his wife were members of Smyrna Baptist Church. Chris enjoyed sports, coaching, football, racing, traveling, the Buffalo Bills, and will be remembered as a hardworking man who cared for his family very much.
In addition to his father, Chris is survived by his wife, Barbara Fields; five children, Victoria Baughman, William Fields, Wyatt Fields, Kenneth Fields, and Cody Fields; two grandchildren, Cooper Nichols and Cheyanne Nichols; a sister, Tiffany Campbell and husband Kevin; and two nieces, Cecilia Campbell and Kathryn Campbell.
The family will have visitation on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home in Southport from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Smyrna Baptist Church in Lumberton with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton.
