Mr. Lynch was born October 25, 1944 to the late Edwin and Helen Lynch. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, WV. Dick was a veteran of the US Navy having served aboard the USS Sampson during the Cuban blockade. He also served as a member of the naval honor guard for the funeral of President John F. Kennedy. Mr. Lynch worked 30 plus years for DuPont; he was very active in his churches. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, NC and formerly was a member of Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna, WV.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janet Lynch; a son Donald Lynch and wife Leslie of Yacolt, WA; a brother Thomas Lynch and wife Regina; three grandchildren, Mollie Wright, Macie Tenney, and Gabriella Fenison; two great-grandchildren, Jack Lynch and Annabell Tenney; his sister-in-law Charlotte Atkinson and husband Rick; two brother-in-laws, Edward L. Strother and wife Judy, and Michael Strother and wife Colleen. He is also survived by his dog Toby. Dick was preceded in death by a brother Donald Lynch.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 4th, 2018 at 2:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport.
