He was born in Wilmington, NC to the late Marcellus and Katie Cox on June 7, 1934.
Frank attended school in Southport, NC. He married Linda Jenkins on July 25, 1971 in Wilmington NC. He worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Southport for 30 years and also owned and managed Cox Christian Bookstores in Wilmington NC for twenty five years. He was a veteran and served in the US Coast Guard. He was actively involved in his church and supported many Christian mission organizations around the world. He was a member of the Wilmington Celebration Choir for many years and enthusiastically participated in music from childhood until his passing. He could always be found singing, playing his fiddle, piano, guitar and harmonica.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Jenkins Cox, and nine older siblings.
Frank is survived by his son, Hugh Cox (wife, Jacqui Leach Cox); daughter, Melanie Cox Lattimer (husband, DeWilton Lattimer III); five grandchildren, Ian Cox, Alison Lattimer, Katie Cox, Keely Cox and Anabelle Lattimer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Peacock, Newnam & White in Southport NC.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday October 14, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church in Southport NC with Reverend Jacob Yount officiating. Burial will follow the service at Northwood Cemetery in Southport NC.
A Rejoice and Remembrance dinner will follow the services at the Jaycee Building on Fodale Avenue in Southport.
