Colon was born in Southport, NC on October 14, 1951 to the late Colon Lavern Hickman Sr and Lois Jane Gore Hickman.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Hickman; sister, Cheryl Lynn Hickman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Catherine Pepper Hickman; sons, Colon Lavern Hickman III (wife, Jennifer), Robert Neil Hickman (wife, Maggie); brothers, Norman Hickman (wife, Linda), Jerry Hickman (wife, Pat), and David Hickman (wife, Elaine); grandchildren, Annemarie Long and Logan Hickman.
Colon worked for over thirty years as a crane operator for the North Carolina State Port. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hosting cookouts, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and riding the side by side with his children. Colon was loved by everyone he met and he never met a stranger.
