Michael F. Bergeron, 47, of Southington, husband of Jessica L. Bergeron (Horowitz), passed away peacefully in his sleep, on November 15, 2023, at Midstate Medical Center. Michael fought bravely and valiantly until the very end. He was born in New Britain on June 6, 1976, and is the son of late Jean (Crooks) Bergeron who passed away in 2011. Michael was a graduate of Southington High School Class of 1994, then he went on to attend Johnson and Wales University for Culinary Arts. He was employed by the 99 Restaurant and Pub for 25 years, and achieved the position as a Culinary Supervisor, resulting in the responsibility for food safety, quality, and sanitation for half the restaurants in the company. He was held in the highest esteem of his colleagues, employees, and guests. Michael was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Kensington. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Polish Club in New Britain. Michael’s passions included cooking, traveling, and spending time with family. Some of his favorite destinations included Yosemite National Park, New Hampshire, Las Vegas, and New York State. Michael loved to sit by the campfire with family and friends telling stories, listening to music, and playing cornhole. Michael dearly valued the friendships he had, and if he called you “brother” then know he meant it from the heart, and you meant something to him. Michael’s favorite teams to root for were the Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees. Michael also had a passion for raising funds and making a difference for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He participated as a support SAG vehicle, during multiple years of the Pan Mass Challenge. During his time at the Wallingford 99 Restaurant, he volunteered to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club where he participated in events like ice cream socials. Michael is survived by his wife Jessica, his children Amber Bergeron and Brady Bergeron; Stepchildren Jonathan Figella and Lillian Figella of Southington; his brothers Paul Bergeron of Andover, CT and Mark Bergeron, wife Donna and son Jared of Medical Lake, Washington. Michael will be dearly missed by his family, friends, “brothers” and colleagues who love him dearly. The family would like to extend all the appreciation that Michael had, for the support from all of those loved ones during these difficult times. Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 461 Alling St, Kensington, CT 06037. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 95 Flanders Rd. Southington, CT 06489. Calling hours for Michael will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
