Mary Serafino Morelli, age 97, lifelong resident of Southington, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born August 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Immaculata and Domenico Serafino, who raised their family at 70 Bristol Street in Southington. She was the youngest of nine children. She attended Lincoln Lewis High School graduating Class of 1945. On May 8, 1950, she was married to the late Robert A. Morelli Sr., making their home on the same street she grew up on.
Mary was first and foremost a devoted, loving and supportive wife and mother. Additionally, she had many jobs throughout her life; Piece work at Allied Control, she helped operate Morelli’s Market, served as a School Bus Driver in Southington, Meriden Record Journal, Dunkin’ Donuts, and The Aqua Turf. She was also the first woman head of the Board of Education in Southington. Always keeping herself busy and helping friends when she could. She was a lover of animals especially dogs and cared for many during her lifetime. Mary was a lifetime member of the Saint Thomas Parish on Bristol Street.
She is survived by her children; Ann Marie and Kevin Conaty, Maria and Donald Ruzich, Robert A. Morelli Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her 8 brothers and their wives; Natale Serafino, Carmen Serafino & Susan Davilio, Vincent James Serafino & Mary D’Agostino, Paul Serafino & Lilly K. Hodler, George Serafino & Rita Gavin, Peter Serafino & Martha Politz, Rocco Serafino & Margaret Suffield, Philip Serafino & Mary Mongillo and grandson Albert James (A.J.) Conaty.

Calling hours for Mary will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, with a prayer service to follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. The service will be livestreamed by clicking https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c24105216604197 at 3PM. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
