Louis L. Kempton, 83, of Southington, beloved widower of Carol Jean (Brunetto) Kempton, entered Heaven on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus, after a short illness. Louis was born in Bristol on November 24, 1938 and was the son of the late Willard Sr. and Theresa (Bossi) Kempton. After completing high school, Louis enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Once he completed his duties, he was honorably discharged and then began a career as a mail carrier in his hometown of Bristol for over 30 years. Louis was a past member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #1010 of Bristol and a lifelong member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club where he volunteered at its many events. As an avid hunter, you could always find him outdoors. Whether it was tending to his garden or traveling to new place with Carol Jean by his side, he was truly happy being outside. Louis loved to be with his friends and family, either playing cards or just hanging out with them. He was always social and sometimes a little flirtatious. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Louis is survived by his children, his son Jeffrey Kempton and his wife Lucie of Bangor, PA and by his daughter, Darlene Cirrito of Bristol. He was “Pa” to Jay Martin and his wife Heather, Kevin Rappleyea of Bristol, Emily Kempton and Brian Kempton both of Bangor, PA. He is also survived by his brother in law Gerald Brunetto and his wife Caroline Nicholas-Brunetto of Cromwell and by his nieces, Debra and Donna and by his nephew Gregory. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Willard Jr. A memorial service for Louis will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. Burial with military honors will follow in West Cemetery in Bristol. Calling hours will be from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
