John M. McGuire

John Michael McGuire, 57, of Plainville, beloved best friend and husband of Andrea (Allen) McGuire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at LiveWell in Plantsville after a brief illness. His family surrounded him as he gained his angel wings. John was born in New Haven on February 5, 1965 and is the son of Maureen (Kelly) McGuire and the late John McGuire. A graduate of Oriville H. Platt H.S. Class of 1984 of Meriden, John was also a mail carrier for the USPS for 31 years before retiring. John was well loved on his route in Watertown and will be sadly missed by his customers whom he also loved. A devout fan of the Philidelphia Flyers, John definitely bled orange. He was also a huge fan of the “Fighting Irish” Notre Dame Football team and the Minnesota Vikings football team respectively. John was a great man, who worked hard and more so loved hard. His sarcastic wit and humor will be missed. But rest assured, he will be watching from Heaven in case you mess up. Besides his wife of 35 years, John is survived by his dogson, Izzy, who was his constant companion and best friend. He is also survived by his siblings, his brother Mark McGuire and his wife Jennifer of NY, and his sister, Kelly Milliken and her husband Steven of Meriden. John was “uncle” to Colby Milliken, Courtney Milliken, Shelby Milliken, Rowan McGuire and Declan McGuire and “great-uncle” to Hadley Franco. John was predeceased by his dog daughter Dakota who greeted him in Heaven with wet dog kisses. A Mass of Christian burial for john will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 19 S. Canal St, Plainville, CT 06062. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours for John will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St, Southington, CT 06489.
