Born October 4, 1939 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Helen (Cherpack) Crowley. He graduated from New Britain High School, the Univ. of Hartford with AS Degree in Electrical Engineering and Post College with a BS Degree in management with magnum cum laude.
John was a field Engineer with CL&P for 44 years. He was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4rd degree.
John was ordained a permanent Deacon on June 12, 1993 by Archbishop Daniel A. Cronin at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. His first assignment was at St. Dominic Church in Southington until 2004 and then was assigned to Mary Our Queen Parish where he served for the past 10 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Carolyn and her husband John Grieco of Southington , Sharon and her husband Alex Torone of Sammanish, WA, John G. Crowley and his wife Patricia and Donna and her husband John Mauro all of Southington. He also leaves a sister Margaret Johnson of Los Angeles, CA ; ten grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell and his wife Susan and Melissa Zawacki, Meghan and Jonathon Torone, Jamison and Jordan Crowley, Joseph, Luke and Jacob Mauro.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St. Plantsville at 11 am, with the most Rev. Peter Rosazza, Auxillary Bishop Emeritis, Celebrant and the Rev. A. Waine Kargul, Pastor of Mary Our Queen and Rev. James Pilon former pastor of Mary Our Queen as Co-Celebrants, Master of Cermony with be Deacon Robert Pallotti. Calling hours will be at the church Tuesday morning from 9-11am Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Franciscan Home and Hospice for the care and compassion they received.
