Henrietta “Helene” “Cookie” (Murawski) Helenek, age 80, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Southington.
She was born in New Britain, to the late Henry and Constance (Marcheski) Murawski. Cookie grew up in Southington where she attended Southington High School and was employed by Newcomb Spring Corporation for many years and then she later found her calling and worked as a floral designer at Nyren’s of New England in Southington.
Cookie is survived by her two children, Tom Helenek of Southington and Jen Helenek (Mark Powers) of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves her two grand-dogs Stella and Greta. Additionally, she leaves many cousins and friends.
Cookie had a passion for gardening and always had the most beautiful flower gardens in her yard. She also liked debating politics, watching UCONN basketball, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered with a private gathering honoring her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
