David S. Lombardo, 77, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away Thursday, June 23, at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (DellaVecchia) Lombardo for 54 years.
He was born Aug. 2, 1944 in Waterbury, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Barbieri) Lombardo. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He had retired from Travelers as a computer programmer after 25 years. David was a member and past president of the Sons of Italy Club and a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post #72. He umpired softball at Recreational Park, he was a bocci captain and came in 2nd in the Bocci World Series in 1990. He loved whittling wood, fishing, playing cards, dancing, golf and walking, most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Jeffrey D. Lombardo and wife Laurie, Brian D. Lombardo and wife Renée, Matthew D. Lombardo and wife Heidi, all of Southington, his grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Olivia, Dylan, Jayden, Alexa and Nathan. He also leaves his sister Toni Tetreault of Farmington and his dog Max.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Michael Lombardo.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday June 29th at 10 am directly at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Tuesday June 28th from 4-7 pm. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
