Maria B. Dostmann, age 76, passed away on October 29, 2017 at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. The beloved wife of the late William R. Dostmann for 49 years, she was a long time resident of Hilltown Township before moving to Pennswood Village in Newtown three years ago. Maria was the loving mother of Sharon (Richard) DeMichele of Haddonfield, NJ. and Karl Dostmann (Yvette Paparo) of Newtown, PA , and her greatest joys were her grandchildren Amanda, Elizabeth and Juliana. She was the devoted sister of Ingrid Forsman, Ingemar Pålsson, and Martin Pålsson, and loving aunt to their children and grandchildren, all of Sweden. The daughter of the late Bengt and Birgit Pålsson, she was raised in Skövde, Sweden and immigrated to the US in 1959.
Mrs. Dostmann had been the owner of Scandinavian Touch in Peddlers Village, Lahaska, PA. She had operated the store more than 20 years from 1990 to 2011. Maria was a member of the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce and the Vasa Order of America.
Maria loved the arts and enjoyed taking art classes and making her own creations as well as attending musical concerts and theater productions. An active member of the Pennswood Village community, she chaired the House Advisory Committee and was active with the art gallery. Her other interest included arts and crafts and sewing.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 10 to11 AM at the Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home, 659 Street Road, Southampton. Her memorial service will be at 11 AM. Inurnment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.
