Jenita Anne Jenkins

Jenita "Jean" Anne Jenkins, 81, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away January 29, 2023. Preceded by her mom, Jenita Moon, her son James Jenkins, her daughter Lori Jenkins, and her brother, Ronald Lovett. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard D. Jenkins, her sister Barbara Anthonson, her children Richard Jenkins (Catherine), Robert Jenkins (Chris), Karen Haubenstein (Kurt), and Linda Tidwell (Shawn). She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Jean was born and raised in Philadelphia. She married Richard on October 10, 1959, and later became a proud mother of 6 children. Before her passing, she became a Nanny (grandmother) of 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and was grateful for them all. Jean enjoyed time with her family, her cats, reading, arts and crafts, taking care of plants and watching crime/mystery, history, and game shows on tv.

Jean was a stay at home mom until all her children finished elementary school. She later worked at a local hospital as a film librarian during the day while her children were at school. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed having her family around her. Many times she would have a full house of grandchildren to watch and feed. The grandchildren loved going to their nanny and pop pop’s house where there were no rules of bedtime, plenty of junk food, no cleaning schedule, no restricted tv, computer or game time and they would watch many tv shows with her. All the grandchildren have funny stories about their Nanny because of these gatherings. Many fun memories which, not only include watching crime tv or game shows with her in her later years but also home cooked meals, a lot of ordering food out as well, playing board games, sewing Halloween costumes, working on a craft project, swimming in the pool, and playing in the backyard, during her younger years when she could keep up with the grandchildren more. Jean was very loved and will be missed by many, but especially by her husband, Richard, of 63 years, who was always proud to call Jean his wife, took great care of her and loved her so.

A visitation for Jenita will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home Inc., 659 Street Road, Southampton, Pennsylvania 18966. A memorial service will occur Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 659 Street Road, Southampton, Pennsylvania 18966. An entombment will occur Monday, February 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Rd, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 18456.
