He was a long time resident of Southampton, Pennsylvania. Herman was born on October 1, 1936 in Philadelphia, to parents, Anton Maurer and Marie Henssler. He graduated from Olney High School in 1954. He continued his education, graduating from Temple University with a Masters Degree in Education. Herman went on to establish a career as a Cabinet maker by Trade and Industrial Arts Teacher by Profession, working for McCloskey Grant and the Philadelphia School District for over 30 years. Herman also served his country in the Army.
Herman was preceded in death by his son Charlie.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and always put family first. He continued in Boy Scouts to support both of his sons and challenged them both to reach the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1986 he was recognized for his outstanding commitment to Troop 28 in Southampton. In 1959 he received his Journeyman’s Certificate from the brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners and went on to be certified by the Carpenters & Millmen Union, Local 359.
Herman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria, his three children Kurt, Christine, and Theresa, seven grandchildren; Brian, Sierra, Casey, Morgan, Alessandra, Anthony, Ava and two brothers Harry Maurer and John Maurer.
A viewing/visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish (611 Knowles Avenue, Southampton, PA, 18966), followed by a funeral mass service and interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
