BREWSTER - Thomas J. Donovan, Jr., 93, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at his home in Maplewood at Brewster, where he lived for the past two months and enjoyed the excellent care of their wonderful staff. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Egasti) Donovan, son of the late Thomas and Ellen (Shaughnessy) Donovan of Dedham.
Tom was a graduate of Dedham High School and Northeastern University (class of 1948). His college years were interrupted by his World War II Army service from 1942 to 1945 in Europe. His lifetime career was as a purchasing agent at Sylvania, Prime Computer, and Computervision companies. Upon retirement the Donovans moved to their home in Brewster, where he enjoyed golf at the Captains Course as a member of the men’s league. Tom had been active in his neighborhood association as a board member and past president, and he was a longtime member of the K of C, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a friend of Bill’s.
Besides his wife Ellie, Tom is survived by one sister, Evelyn Phelps, of Annapolis, MD, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1. There are no calling hours, and burial at the Bourne National Cemetery will be private.
