Stephen Joseph Longobardi, age 64, of Dennis, Massachusetts passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022. Stephen was born in New Haven, CT to his late father Neil Joseph Longobardi and his mother Lois Veronica (Greene) Longobardi of Brewster, MA.
Stephen was the oldest of 5 children, and grew up in Cheshire, CT. He attended Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, CT and attended college at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT. He then began a lifetime career as a chef in the New Haven area of CT before he relocated to Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod, MA. The last ten years of his career were dedicated to his role at Embargo in Hyannis, MA where he was known to all of his extended Embargo family as “Chef”. Stephen had quite the culinary following on Cape Cod and earned the award of “Best Chef Mid Cape” in 2018.
Stephen’s greatest passion was cooking whether he was working or enjoying time with friends and family. He loved traveling, the beach, boating, and quality time with his family and friends. Stephen was kind, compassionate and hardworking. He didn’t just like, he loved everyone, and would do anything for those he cared for deeply. His smile lit up every room he entered and he was not only the life of the party but the fun of his family. He fiercely loved his family and friends and in return was deeply loved.
Stephen is survived by his two sons, Alex Longobardi and Evan Longobardi both of North Haven, CT; his mother Lois Longobardi of Brewster, MA; four sisters, Kathleen Longobardi of Brewster, MA, Diane (Longobardi) Roemmele (Rick) of Cheshire, CT, Judy Longobardi of West Yarmouth, MA, Karen (Longobardi) Lane of Yarmouthport, MA; four nephews and a niece, Justin Leavitt, Marc Leavitt, Brett Harrison, Ryan Lane, and Isabella Gannon; and five great nephews and a great niece.
Stephen was a miracle, a survivor of stage 4 colon cancer and cancer free. A memorial visitation for Stephen will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Doane Beal & Ames, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, Massachusetts 02660, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
