For 51 years, Janice was the beloved wife of Gerald D. Murphy. She was the loving mother of Melissa Murphy of Dorchester, Maureen Murphy of Weymouth, Captain Gerald Murphy, USN and his wife Trudy of Virginia Beach, VA. She was the cherished Mimi to Celia, Benjamin, Claire and Matthew. Her death leaves a loss felt deeply by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. Janice was the adored daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Ogiba) Kaszuba.
Janice was born in Ipswich and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1955. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. Janice started her career working in psychiatric nursing at the Brockton VA Hospital. She eventually transitioned to student health where she was a devoted healthcare professional committed to student wellbeing. She was employed at Bryantville Elementary School as the school nurse and then she went on to work for 18 years at Bridgewater University as the Director of Health Services.
Janice was kind, loving and generous. She had a deep faith and spirituality that sustained her throughout her life. Her beautiful smile and wit will be missed by all. She grew up near the ocean and spent her life living near the beach. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends on the beach enjoying the sun, sand and sea.
Visiting hours will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, 2/24/16 at Doan Beal & Ames, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, 2/25/16 at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA.
