West Yarmouth – Charles J. Kelley of West Yarmouth passed away March 31st, 2012. He was the first baby born in the new wing of the Cape Cod Hospital. He was a loving, easy going, family man. His best days were spent on the ocean. He enjoyed fishing, shell fishing, swimming and boating in the waters of Nantucket Sound as long as was able.
While growing up near the town line between Yarmouth and Barnstable, he attended schools in both towns. After high school he worked as a carpenter with his father constructing the buildings at Camp Edwards before entering the Coast Guard during World War II. Upon leaving the service he became an auto mechanic and retired after 29 years as a master mechanic for ComElectric.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Ann (Barry) Kelley for 52 years. He was the loving father of Eileen Gregory and her husband James of Sandwich, Richard Kelley and his wife Leslie of Brewster and Catherine Hassett, also of Brewster. He was grandfather to Garret Moylen and his wife Teresa of Taunton, Theresa Hendricks and her husband Paul of Marstons Mills, Jay Gregory of Boston, Timothy Kelley of Mashpee, Thomas and Daniel Joslin of Brewster, Sarah and Caitlyn Hassett of Brewster and great grandfather to Emily Moylen, Corey and Madeline Hendricks and Alicia Moylen.
In lieu of Flowers, donations could be sent to the Brewster Fire and Resuce, Main St. Brester.
