Raymond C. Oswald, 81 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Cecilia T. (Ponte) Oswald with whom he shared 59 loving years of marriage.
He was born September 14, 1940, in New Bedford and was the son of the late Mary (Pimental) Morse and her husband Francis Morse. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and was employed by Tichon Seafood as an Internal Accountant for 40 years until his retirement. Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He and his lovely wife were regulars at many local restaurants and could often be seen walking hand in hand through Padanaram Village. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and Pa never missed a game, dance recital, school concert or art show. Although he was an avid Yankees fan, he truly enjoyed all of the New England sports teams and getting together with family to watch them.
Ray touched the lives of many young athletes in town while coaching his sons and grandsons’ baseball and basketball teams through the DYAA and CYO programs. He also loved and looked forward to family vacations to the Cape, New Hampshire, and Disney World.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Michael R. Oswald and his wife Kerrie of Dartmouth and Raymond M. Oswald of Fairhaven; his grandchildren, Michael T. and Sarah M. Oswald; his sister-in-law Bernice Miller and his four nieces Deborah Gidley, Bernice Flanagan, Susan Clark and Karen Gillis.
