Hi my name is Cheryl,I've. know Moe for at least 10 years in Florida. He became a dear friend. We laughed. Went for drinks in his Volkswagen.  Traded life stories, celebrated birthdays  in the same month and was always there for each other. I miss you my friend and you will always be in my heart and mind. Condolences  to your family

 I was literally terrified of the once quiet man, now talking my ear off.  This continued over the next 25 years!  I am still not sure if the change was in me, or the change was within him.  However the stories and lessons, I have learned and enjoyed still guide me.  (Yes Mr Ledger… we were listening)

Moe, Will, and of course Kathleen were the center of his life.  The mere mention of their name would bring a smile to his face.  They were his responsibility, and no matter the challenge he never forgot his duty to protect and provide.  He guided his ship through calm seas and roughest weather, paint was chipped, the hull was dented at times, however he held the ship steady. 

I still can’t believe like all good stories, this too must come to an end.  Big Moes life, was a life well lived.  We will rally again on another adventure.  I will meet you where the ocean meets the sky, and bring the fresh tanks.

The man the myth the legend.

The only man I have ever encountered that was 5foot 6in and led a 6foot 10in persona. 

I am a believer in looking back on life as a measurement of how we lived.  Big Moe lived the equivalent of 200 years in the short span of 81. From diving on ship wrecks in the shark infested, and current strong water of vineyard sound, to less then eight months ago climbing into the engine room of my boat to diagnose a blown motor.   I mean for god sake at 80 the guy was upside down with his feet dangling in the air, asking me to pass him a wrench!!! It was evident age was not stopping him, or for that matter, he was not about to be stopped. 

Looking back from mid winter ski trips in a small van with a dive flag, to dive trips off of the Plymouth power plant to look for lobsters 80 feet down. The adventures were nearly endless. We spent more time alive then most people do in a lifetime.  Clearly the experiences I have from him still resonate with me so many years later.

The most ironic part is from early youth to nearly late teens,  I don’t think he said more then 500 darn words to me.  Usually telling us of the consequences of our actions.  He allowed us the ability to make teenage mistakes…. Mostly on the  Westport river… (allot of mistakes come to think of it) however was quick to set us on the correct path… despite knowing well we would make them again, or even better new ones.  Throughout our childhood, Me and little Moe spent more time avoiding confrontations with him. Not because he was mean or tough… simply because there was something a bit squirrelly about this man who stood nearly a foot below my chin, that we did not want to deal with… so naturally It was always much easier to deal with Kathleen, despite our mischief we could do no wrong in her eyes. 

I returned from Bootcamp in the spring of 1999 and much to my surprise, I could not get him to shut up!! Continued …

Moe, i am missing you my friend and  neighbor. I'll never forget the day you brought me sea salt and left it in my back porch because I had covid and my throat was sore. We helped each other as neighbors and our friendship means the world me. I remember our first bike ride, after 22 miles i was so tired but you still had enough energy to keep going despite being 26yrs older than me. I would wait for you to come back from Florida so we could ride our bikes and share stories. Your my buddy and I will always carry you in heart. I love you Moe! My deepest sympathy to Moe, JR, sweet Annie and the family.

We are missing Moe  already. He was very loving  and generous with his time to help us with any project . I am sure he is looking down at us all with his beautiful Kathy. Love and condolences to little Moe, Annie, and the rest of our family and friends. Love to you all.
