Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Amancio and Mary C. (Moniz) DeMello, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. daCosta was the owner of B&A Package Store in Acushnet for several years.
Mary was a woman of strong faith who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting and was an extremely organized person especially being a dedicated business owner.
She is survived by her sister, Florence Francoeur of Dartmouth; her nieces, Kimberly Brie, Carmen Serrano and Connie daCosta; her great nieces, Chandra Brie, Paula Graca, Sophia Cobb and Doreen Alcobia; her great nephew, Taylor Brie; and several great-great nieces and nephews. She leaves a special friend, Victor Tomas, who was very special to Jose and Mary. She was predeceased by her nephew, Wayne Francoeur and niece, Albertina Alcobia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 789 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
