June M. Collins, 93, of Dartmouth, died peacefully on Monday December 4, 2017 after a long period of declining health. Born in Northampton, MA, she was the daughter of the late William E. Hartman and Albiana (Roberts) Hartman, the beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Collins Jr. and mother of the late Nancy E. Collins.
She was a registered nurse during World War II and into the early part of her married life in Springfield, MA, prior to starting her family.
During her many years as a resident of Dartmouth, she was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church and a founding member of their ladies guild. In her home life, she enjoyed raising basset hounds with her family, various craft projects, sewing, knitting, cooking, reading and word puzzles.
She is survived by two sons, John F. Collins III of Burbank CA and Thomas W. Collins and his wife Christine of Dartmouth. Other survivors include Jeannette Norton, Barbara Crowley, Robert Sicard and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her very dear friends Peggy, Mary, Mercedes and Sue.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Windsor Unit Staff at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion as well as her various care givers from Personal-Touch Home Care.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russell’s Mills Road, Dartmouth. Her funeral will be held Saturday December 9, 2017 at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth.
