Born in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late H. Calvin Cook Sr. and Ruth (Transue) Cook, he was raised in Ohio; a graduate of the Choate School and the College of Bishop's Stortford, England. He went on to receive his AB from Clark University and a Master's in City Planning from Yale University.
Cal was employed by the Towns of Dartmouth and Needham as their town planner where he encouraged preservation of open space.
Cal loved his family dearly; he was a ardent golfer and was a past club champion at the Kittansette Club in Marion. Poetry was advocation of his and he wrote about topics which were extremely important to him.
In addition to his loving wife Annette, he is survived by daughter- in-law Yumiko Cook and grandson Hiroki Cook of Fairfax, Virginia; his siblings, Oliver T. Cook and his wife Sharon of Beverly, Bonnie C. Hardy of Gloucester and Margaret C. Price of CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Harrison Christopher Cook.
