Born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, a daughter of the late Jose Miguel da Costa and Maria Alexandrinha (Botelho) Senra, she grew up on the island and immigrated to America in the mid-1940’s. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Mrs. Arruda worked as a seamstress for various mills in the area. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and particularly enjoyed surrounding herself with nieces and nephews. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, needlework and daily walks.
Mrs. Arruda was a loving mother who devoted herself to her children. She is survived by her son, Edmund Arruda and his wife Laurie of Ashfield, two daughters Julie Stone of Lenox and Cherie Collin de Casaubon and her husband Didier of Boston; grandchildren, Sebastian Arruda, and Charlotte, Jeanne, Louise, and Matthieu Collin de Casaubon. She was also the sister of Alzira Viveiros of Sao Miguel; a brother, Jose Miguel and his wife Maria Jose of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Senra, Maria Lourdes Tavares, Miguel da Costa Senra and Julieta Reis.
