Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Maria (Santos) Ramos, Mr. Ramos lived most of his life in Fall River until moving to New Bedford in 1978.
Edward was a United States Army Veteran of the 10th Armored Division of the 90th Calvary Recon during World War II. He worked as a carpenter for the local #1305 Union. During his career he was the foreman, superintendent and business agent of the union. He retired in 1985. He enjoyed going to dinner with his wife, spending time with his family and watching the wildlife in his backyard pond.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his daughters Mary Ann Pineau and her husband Hank of Lugoff, South Carolina; Susan Maturi and her husband Michael of Somerset; 3 grandchildren Laurie Davidson, Lenny Pineau and Jeremy Maturi, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Leonard Ramos and the brother of the late Julius Ramos and Brazlina Branco.
Funeral Arrangements are in the care of the Waring- Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 4-8pm. Funeral service and burial are private.
