Carol R. Travers

Carol R. (Schenk) Travers, 80, of Dartmouth passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River after complications from a recent medical procedure. She was the beloved wife of James Travers.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Karl Schenk and Rose Giamarese Schenk. She was a lifelong area resident.

Carol worked as a teacher for the Dartmouth School Department. Most of her career, she taught 4th grade at Cushman School and retired after 35 years of teaching. Carol loved to read, going to the beach, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed getting together with fellow Cushman teachers and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren who gave her the greatest joy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kimberly A. Carvalho and her husband, Joseph Carvalho, III of Westport, Thomas J. Travers and his wife Katelyn of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Jenna R. Carvalho, Nora G. Travers, and Nolan S. Travers; two sisters, Virginia Paull and Elise Stettner; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10 a.m., St. Mary’s Parish, 795 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. For online tribute: www.waring-sullivan.com.
