Barbara B. (Cordeiro) Costa, 76, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. She was the wife of David F. Costa with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Manuel L. and Hilda (Botelho) Cordeiro, she had resided in Dartmouth for most of her life.
Mrs. Costa was employed as an assistant physical therapist for Southcoast Hospitals and a certified nursing assistant for Brandon Woods for several years. She proudly served as a docent at the Whaling Museum.
She enjoyed spending the winters in Florida with her husband and most of all she cherished her life with her loving family.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her son, Marty D. Costa and his wife Joanne; her grandson, Jonathan Costa and his wife Mandy; her granddaughter, Stephanie Costa; her brother-in-law, Ralph Costa and his wife Rita all of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Beverly A. (Cordeiro) Tavares.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11AM at St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
