Rosalie F. (Joseph) Galib, “Sittee”, age 90 of Somerset, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol, RI. She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Galib, her husband of 64 years.
Born in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Murad and Mary (Thomas) Joseph, Rosalie was a graduate of Torrington High School, class of 1944. After her marriage to Tom in 1951, she moved to Fall River, MA. The family settled in Somerset in 1965 and Rosalie managed the household, raising her four children with a firm but loving hand and a feisty disposition. She always went out of her way to make others feel welcome, comfortable, and well-fed in her home. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of the Desert Church, where she was a member of the Blessed Mother Guild. Most of all, she enjoyed being a beloved “Sittee” to her eight grandchildren, freely sharing her infectious laughter, loving smile, and unparalleled cooking skills.
Rosalie is survived by her four children – Thomas A. Galib, Jr. and his wife Jean of Portsmouth, RI; Stephen P. Galib and his wife Christine of Lanesborough, MA; Susan G. Klapheke and her husband Michael of Baldwinsville, NY; and Nancy M. Galib and her husband Eric Parker of Arlington, VA; eight grandchildren – Linda, Michael, Lisa and her fiancé Patrick DePriest, Elizabeth, Catherine, Jeremy, Amanda and Laura; cousin Helene Haddad, niece Lorraine Meyer, and many other nieces and nephews.
Rosalie was predeceased by her siblings Frances Lataif, Lillian Beck, Julia Boutelier, Josephine Buckler, Joseph Joseph and William Joseph.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff of St. Elizabeth Manor and Hope Hospice Care for the gracious and attentive care provided to Rosalie during her time at St. Elizabeth and in her final days of life.
