Born in Somerset, a son of the late Alfonse and Irene (Mathieu) Berube, he was a lifelong resident of Somerset and a graduate of Diman Vocational Technical High School, class of 1957.
Mr. Berube was co-owner of the former Al & Paul's Auto Sales and Rent a Ride, retiring in 2011. After high school, he had worked for his family catering business, Mother's Box Lunch.
Very patriotic and hardworking, he loved going to Seekonk Speedway, enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends to US National Parks and various islands, boating and being on the water, doing yard work and, most of all, spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 7 sons: Selectman David Paul Berube and fiancée Kim Bernier, Ted Paul Berube and wife Diane, Ricky Paul Berube, all of Somerset, Dennis Paul Berube and his close companion Lynn Sigman of Taunton, James Paul Berube and wife Michelle, Gregg M. Silva and his companion Suzanne Czerny of Somerset, and Glenn M. Silva of Fall River. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Colette Brisbois and husband Richard, and Pauline Ouellette and husband Robert, all of Somerset, and 4 brothers: Albert Berube of Fall River, Armand Berube and wife Louise of NC, Roger Berube and wife Carolyn of Westport, Joseph Berube and wife Sandy of ME, and 9 grandchildren: Jocelyn, Benjamin, Courtney, Samantha, Nicholas, Brandon, Austin, Brianna and Makenzie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 8:30 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St. Somerset with a funeral mass at 11:00 AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St. Swansea. Visiting hours Friday morning 8:30-10:30 AM prior to his mass.
