Michael A. Kulak, 67, of Syracuse, formerly of New York City, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Crown Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cortland. He was born in Syracuse, graduating from Solvay High School and later SUNY Oswego with his Bachelor’s Degree in History and English. He was a former teacher for the Jordan-Elbridge School District for over 10 years. He was an educational consultant for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company in NY City. Michael loved history, film and traveling, and was an avid swimmer and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. He was predeceased by his father, Jules in 2013 and brothers, Jules in 1997 and James in 2005.
He is survived by his son; Andrew, of Syracuse, mother; Marge (Bianchi) Kulak, of Westvale, 3 sisters; Margaret (Joe) Lucido, of NC, Helen (Vince) Petralito, of Syracuse and Mary (Paul) Greenfield, of Jamesville, 2 brothers; Fritz and Mark (Colleen), both of Solvay, former wife; Toni Kulak, of Vernon, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd. Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. There are no calling hours. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, has care of arrangements.
