John Peter Kania, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. John was born in Syracuse to the late Anthony and Maria (Bogdan) Kania in 1928. He was a Supreme Court Reporter in Onondaga County for many years before retiring. He was a lifelong communicant of The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and enjoyed spending the summers at his camp in Maine. John was predeceased by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 am Friday in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am at The Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, Syracuse, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
